The Garden Club of Allegheny County (GCAC), is вЂњTalking TrashвЂќ to Pittsburgh, PA organizations that have the power to solve the problems caused by the profusion of consumables that pollute land and water. In partnership with Allegheny CleanWays (AC) , eighteen members of GCAC sorted, measured, and catalogued some 6,900 pounds of trash collected from several riverfront and illegal dumpsites. Allegheny CleanWays is using the audit findings to educate the public, and to put pressure on companies, government entities, and NGOвЂ™s to make positive environmental changes. AC staff then weighed and analyzed the trash. This audit was the first of its kind in the Pittsburgh area.
